“Oceanique make the sort of music that heals souls, so they’re just what the world needs right now” - Around The Sound
Hailing from the deep south of regional Western Australia, Oceanique combines close harmonies, wonder and warm melodies leaving you with the feeling of staring up at a big blue country sky. Twin sisters Maddy and Jess craft music rich in the folk storytelling tradition with seamless blood harmonies and reflective lyrics. A sound that calls to mind the sibling harmonies of First Aid Kit and The Waifs.
Oceanique were awarded Folk Alliance Australia’s ‘Youth Artist of the Year’ (2022), welcoming them into the arms of the Australian folk music community, seeing them playing some of Australia's most prestigious folk festivals, National Folk Festival, Woodford Folk Festival and Nannup Music Festival. Oceanique released their debut album ‘Would The Light Hold Me’ in March 2023 which received national and international praise. Described by Triple J’s Anika Luna as “a special find in an ocean full of art.” Oceanique have the magic of being able to evoke images of time and place in their music, as you dig into the texture of their song writing, the images they create with their aural tapestry come into clearer focus.
