Cannery Arts Centre, Norseman Rd, Chadwick WA 6450
Balmy Nights returns for the fourth consecutive year to The Cannery Art Centre, building further on the event that we have all come to love. Our focus remains on creating an exceptional atmosphere with our main stage located within the Arts Centre garden, natural surroundings suited to the balmiest of evenings. 2021 features a stunning line-up of West Australian acts headlined by 2020 Aria Nominee Grace Barbe. Grace Barbé hails from the sunburnt Indian Ocean islands of the Seychelles, where a colourful history of slavery, pirates, coups d'etat and coconuts have produced a unique Kreol rhythm, language and culture. Drawing from the diverse cultural melange of the islands, Grace's music fuses the tropical rhythms and dances of the slaves with psychedelic rock, afrobeat, reggae and pop. In performance Grace's trio conjures a bewilderingly huge sound, danceable grooves of the highest order. Alongside Grace we have Perth based Electro Pop Duo Priscilla, Esperance favourites Joan and the Giants, brilliant twin sister duo Oceanique, soulful local ladies Mary and Bec and exceptional emerging Esperance artist Darcie Haven. Our lineup showcases a diverse array of styles with a focus on women songwriters within the WA music industry. Balmy Nights has become synonymous with a fine offering of food and beverages, further adding to the overall event aesthetic. 2021 sees the development of a mini food court in true festival style, hosting a selection of local vendors situated in the Cannery Gallery Courtyard. Our pop up cocktail bar returns with the Centre delivering a menu of balmy beverages, also a fine selection of beers featuring Esperance’s own Lucky Bay Brewery. The Cannery Arts Centre is a community space whose year-round program features art across all mediums. Live music, acts as a brilliant access point for community engagement with the wider program. Balmy Nights 2021 aims to create a space where attendees are able to experience varied elements of the Centre. Our pottery club is set to host an open studio with attendees invited to take a peek inside, pottery works will also be on display and available to purchase. Our main gallery will be open to view with our bi-annual fundraising exhibition 9x5 in situ. We are currently working to further the artistic element of Balmy Nights, be prepared for further surprises in store. Balmy Nights is brought to you by Kyza Presents, The Cannery Arts Centre, Esperance Tide, Brodeine and Deine, Love Childs, Regional Arts WA and The Shire Of Esperance. Our event would not exist without local sponsorship many thanks to our key local sponsor Luxe Floral and Home Co, also to Tim Green Construction and the Lillypad Esperance. 2021 marks a turning point in the evolution of Balmy Nights with The Mt Burdett Foundation coming on board to support ongoing strategic development. With a focus on human capacity building, community engagement and emerging artistic development. Balmy Nights 2021 is not to be missed, see you all soon.
