Oceanique are the indie-folk duo of twin sisters Maddy and Jess Houston, raised in the small coastal town of Walpole in regional Western Australia. Known for their dreamy sibling harmonies and deeply personal songwriting, the pair create music grounded in storytelling and connection. Rooted in contemporary folk, Oceanique weaves together heartfelt storytelling and warm reflective melodies, reminiscent of the vast country sky they grew up under. Their seamless blood harmonies have earned comparisons to artists such as First Aid Kit and The Staves.
Since their debut in 2019, Oceanique have built a reputation as one of Australia's most compelling new folk acts, captivating audiences across major festivals and listening rooms nationwide. On stage, the duo’s intertwined harmonies, warmth and humour draw audiences into their world through heartfelt storytelling and an authenticity that has become their trademark.
Named Port Fairy Folk Festival's Emerging Artist of the Year (2024), Folk Alliance Australia's Youth Artist of the Year (2022) and a finalist in the Robinson Emerging Artist Showcase at Goderich Celtic Roots Festival, Canada (2026). Oceanique have performed at leading festivals including the National Folk Festival, Woodford Folk Festival and Port Fairy Folk Festival, showcased internationally at Folk Alliance International in Montréal (2025), and shared stages with acclaimed artists including The Waifs. Their sophomore album, Skylines (2025), was well-received and took the duo on a 17-date national tour, highlighted by a sold-out Melbourne album launch and performances at festivals across the country.
Building on growing momentum at home and internationally, Oceanique returned to Canada this July and August for a six-week tour spanning four provinces, including performances at 39 Days of July Festival (BC) and Toronto Folk Festival (ON).
With new music being written and audiences continuing to grow both at home and abroad, the duo remain committed to creating heartfelt, harmony driven sister folk music that connects across borders while staying true to their roots and small town souls.
